Have you ever heard something about CFCs?

Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC), is a compound derivated from saturated hydrocarbon obtained by the replacing of hidrogen atoms by fluorine/chlorine atoms. They are used in several aplications, mainly in refrigeration and aerosols industry. CFC is also in thermal insulation. It can remain in the atmosphere from 50 to 100 years. CFC is been separated by the action of the UV in the stratosphere, and it destroys the ozone. The method of attack of CFC is a photochemical reaction. When the light hits a CFC molecule, it releases a chlorine atom that destroys the ozone atoms. Only a chlorine atom can destroy 30,000 ozone atoms.

Health and Pollution: Why you should be worried

Prolonged exposure to a contaminant in several years may reduce the life expectancy of a human. Contamination is a risk factor for the health of people, often resulting in diseases and other disorders.

Increasing levels of pollution in cities has been reflected in increased hospital admissions and registration of more cases of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.
According to the World Health Organization mortality has increased because of environmental pollution. States that pollution is one of the first health risks.

Some of the diseases caused by air pollution:

· Respiratory diseases such as pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma
· Viral diseases: yellow fever, hepatitis, dengue.
· High levels of air pollution related to PM2.5 particles, given off by diesel engines of cars, causing diseases of the circulatory system.
· The Spanish Group for Lung Cancer warning that "the high rate of pollution in cities increases by 20% the risk of lung cancer." The number of deaths from this disease has increased by 8% in the most polluted towns in Spain.
· It is considered that air pollution affects more industrialized countries. Not so that 80% of deaths in the world, this contamination occur in countries where there is pobreza.Las vunerables communities and poor use most polluting energies such as coal, dung and firewood for cooking and heating in their homes.

My Experience: A presentation on climate change

My experience was very gratifying. The truth is that we go out with little fear because we didn´t know since they us would treat. But ultimately they was phenomenal and they are very participative , we realized that the people don´t know very much on the climate change.
I believe that the best way of having the entertaining people is to do that it takes part by means of questions that say to themselves along the presentation which they have to answer.

CLIMATE CHANGE- Choose your future

The climate change is produced by an increase of the greenhouse effect.
This increase is due to the increase of CO2 emissions.
But we can stop it.
We must reduce de CO2 emissions and it is very easy to do.
Some examples are:
-To buy domestic appliances of class AAA.
-To isolate the houses.
-To plant trees.
-To regulate the heatings to 21 °

But the most important thing is that we have to arouse because it is a problem that affects us and we have to be conscious of the consequences.

Sustainability: it's not a dream, it can be reality

Sustainable development provides the actual generation's needs and preserves the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for future generations. Also:
· Renewable resources won't be exploited at a rate greater than the replacement and not only to the extent they are replaced by alternative sources.
· Won't be thrown away the environment more wastes than it can absorb.

Major challenges for sustainable development:

The inability of the human to live in harmony with the planet, the great interaction between man and natural system, are the great environmental problems nowadays. To this day, no species, except the human, has been able to modify so substantially, in such a short time, the characteristics of the planet.

Thus, the world's problems that arise are the following:

- Overpopulation and inequalities.
- The increase of greenhouse effect.
- Destruction of the ozone layer.
- Humanization of the landscape.
- Preservation of biodiversity.
- Erosion, desertification and forest destruction.

Would you like to live in a Green Building? (arquitectura bioclimática)

Green building consists in the design of buildings according to the climatic conditions taking advantage of the avaiable natural resources, such as wind, sunlight, vegetation and rain. The objective of green building is to decrease environmental impacts by decreasing the energy consumption.

This type of building is more expensive than normal buildings, but a green building is sustainable and it saves a lot of energy.

Nowadays there isn't so many green buildings because in developed countries there isn't so much respect to the environment.

To get warmer temperatures in winter and cooler temperatures in summer a house must have south-facing windows (if it's on the northern hemisphere) or south-facing windows (in the southern hemisphere). To insulate well a building it must have thick walls.

Let´s save energy in 20 steps!

Some things we can do to save energy is:
1. - Buy appliances AAA
2. - Put energy saving light bulbs
3. - Unplug electronic devices when don't use.
4. - Use public transport.
5. - Buy food in places near to home, since it reduced car use.
6. - Install solar panels.
7. -Don't put the temperature of the heating very high.
8. - Eat vegetables that need less carbon dioxide.
9. - Turn off lights when not using.
10. - Use rechargeable batteries.
11. - Reuse plastic bags to buy or keep things.
12. - Recycle rubbish.
13. - Save water (take off the tap when brushing your teeth, etc.)
14. - Walk or ride a bike to go to sites.
15. - Wash with cold water.
16. - Turn off computers.
17- Seal windows.
18. - Use electric cars.
19. - Windows with double glazing.
20.- Use recycled paper.

The presentation about climate change:
The presentation I made with Celia and I didn't like because I don't speak english well and the presentation it was in english. That 'why it was uncomfortable.
But I think that the topic of the climate change is interesting because this affect our lifes and we should do something.

How Concerned Are You About Climate Change?

Climate change or global warming is the modification in Earth's climate. This warming is caused by the greenhouse effectThe greenhouse effect is a process that is good for the planetbut their increase may have negative consequences.
The greenhouse effect is caused by ultraviolet rays that enter in the planet but don't leave. Some of them should stay because the planet is heat. But others remain on Earth for pollution that there are in the environment.

This process has increased in recent years because the population is consuming resources too quickly and doesn't help with the care of Earth. Also influence deforestation, as today has greatly increased.

The greenhouse effect is causing many natural disasters such as fires, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc.
The destruction of biodiversity is a consequence of the enhanced greenhouse effect, every day there are more species that are endangered. The melting of the poles is also a consequence.
If nothing is done in few years the natural resources like oil will end and the planet will be in danger. We must act and become aware of the need to save the planet. Maybe we don't affect the consequences, but they affect our future generations.
